DR. JAN KRAYBILL JOINS THE KANSAS CITY CHORALE FOR KAUFFMAN CENTER CONCERT
We are so lucky to have Dr. Jan Kraybill as our special guest organist for our final concert in the 2012–2013 season. If you haven’t heard Jan play on the 102-rank Julia Irene Kauffman Casavant organ in Helzberg Hall, you are in for a magnificent treat.
Jan grew up in Colby, Kansas, and began an international career in music while she was still in high school. She holds degrees in piano performance and music education from Kansas State University, and she has a doctorate in organ performance from the Conservatory of Music and Dance at the University of Missouri–Kansas City. In 2010, she earned the Fellow certificate from the American Guild of Organists (AGO), the highest certification available for organists.
When she’s not overseeing the care of the three largest pipe organs in the Kansas City metro area, Jan serves as Principal Organist at the international headquarters of Community of Christ in Independence, Missouri. She performs frequently with professional and community groups, and has performed on Kansas Public Radio and American Public Media’s nationally broadcast program Pipedreams.
Did you know that Dr. Kraybill served as one of the first accompanists for The Chorale when we were just getting off the ground? Now we are honored to welcome her back as a featured guest artist on our May 24 concert at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. We hope you will join us for the music of Britten, Pärt, and Duruflé!
